Jamaica AIDS Support for Life (JASL) is the oldest and largest AIDS, human rights, non-governmental organisation and has been in existence since 1991 and now has three (3) Chapters: Kingston (Head Office), Ocho Rios and Montego Bay. The JASL is dedicated to preserving the dignity and rights of persons living with HIV and AIDS and to help in the fight against the spread of HIV and AIDS by providing education and other interventions – to promote changes in attitudes and behaviour and empower persons to respond positively to the challenges associated with being vulnerable to infection in Jamaica.
The organisation does not discriminate against persons because of colour, race, disability gender, class, sexual orientation, age or religious belief. The JASL focus groups are made of those individuals who because of social status, sexual orientation or gender may be especially vulnerable. The organisation has built a reputation for successfully working with people living with HIV (PLHIV) and high-risk groups including: men who have sex with men (MSM) and sex workers (SW), the hearing impaired (HI) and orphaned and vulnerable children (OVC).
